2001 3.8L v6 mustang stalling out on start up and red lights?
My mother owns a 2001 ford mustang, It has been running rough for a few days and now it wont even stay started. I replaced the Fuel Filter today for her and nothing different… So as a last ditch attempt at getting it running okay we ran sea foam through the brake boost vac line, in the gas tank and crank case as directed in the can and still nothing…. I have no clue as to whats up with this car. I still have the MAF sensor to clean up and some other air related things to check out. I’m thinking it might be the fuel pressure regulator or something some what simple under the hood. I don’t think its the Fuel Pump because when you turn the car on before it cranks over you can hear the pump turn on. I just don’t know fords all that well…. i mostly work on imports with a set of chopsticks…. lol. Any ideas are welcome, thanks to all who peek at my question.
Its common for the Idle Air Control Valve to go bad on mustangs. You can get a new one for $50-$90. Don’t go to the dealer ship, they will charge you like $160 and most auto stores can order one for you. I’ve had to replace 3 of them on my mustang. This might be the same problem you are having.
