What make’s the hydraulic release sound when a bus stops, it sounds like a blow off valve.?
I need to know the exact name of this mechanical part.
Those are actually air brakes, which is why it sounds like a blow off valve. Basically a fully pressurized system opens the brakes allowing the wheels to role. The foot valve, as the name implies is attached to the brake peddle. As you press the brake peddle the foot valve is opened allowing air to escape and the brakes to engage. When the bus stops the driver likely locks the brakes but opening the safety bypass valve which keeps the brakes from releasing until he/she releases the safety. Once the safety is released the system can recharge, release the brakes and the vehicle can move again. Hope this helps.
